Love for all things Antique....

I have always loved antique stuff. Its a memorabilia from the past that narrates so many stories with its form, shape, material, color and texture. Stories of the people who used it and hands it passed through. The good bad and the ugly times it saw. Forms from this period are classic enabling itself to be reinvented in some form we deem fit.
Inspired by this period I have done a couple of wire work pendants that can multitask as pins, as brooches and as focal pieces. The colors are royal and the findings are in antique finish. A scatterbrain as I am I have already moved to the vintage period for my inspiration. Hoping to get back with those ones.

The green pendant piece of Jewelry I made for the transition - fall winter 2010 collection. Incidently Green is one of the biggest color stories for Fall transition palettes 2010 (according to Anne Rush) and green stones embedded in antique gold wire is the hottest now. I didn't know this is before..but I guess that my instinct is still going strong. :)
So many people complain That I don't make jewelry regularly. so this is for all of them...from now on will try and find time to do more pieces - new and exciting ones.

Square ring

I had stopped making rings sometime back because i could not get the perfect shape and size without the ring mandrel. The frame would become either too big or too small and by the time I would realise that, I would have already completed the whole ring.

One day looking through my seed beads, i got an idea. Why not make a ring without a frame or for that matter without knotting, soldering or even fusing.
It was an exciting challenge and the result is much better than what I expected. I have used rectangular seed beads and now have a perfect square ring for my size without using a mandrel.

It is made on one length of tigertail, where a medium sized glass bead is positioned at the end of every side of the square and the number of seed beads on every side depend on the exact width of your finger. It has neither a frame no an end knot. Its looped completely and stays sturdy owing to its shape & structure.

It is very colorful, looks quirky got a oval face and in fact looks like a chemical compound chain from my organic chem class.

Plastic bottle Bracelet

I was going the net the other day and ended up at a page which was a tutorial to make bracelets out of old plastic bottles. Well I didnt have most of things that were mentioned in the tutorial so I just went ahead and used my own substitutes and here is the result.

Materials used by me :
Textured plastic bottle(small), nail paint ( i used about 4 colors), permanent maker to add additional designs some spacers and pearls, elastic cord.

Lesson learnt : to use a non textured plain smooth bottle the next time I do it. - If you are allergic to any kind of fumes, then this project is not for you.

Cheers
